Instagram Bot powered by AI

This weekend I was curious to see if I could build an instagram bot that could automatically generate meaningfull interactions and in some way react to interactions at some level.

I decided to use python and developed the bot on top of instabot-py library, which was great for this project.

To interpret the images I went with this microsoft tool called CaptionBot, which was great to generate descriptions for images.

Then with some patience and some simple logic, generate sample phrases with placeholders that would be filled with CaptionBot descriptions.

Also created some special options for NSFW images, and some simple intent detections for replying to comments.

Then activated the bot and watched people interactions, to my surprise it was quite successful and the feedback was great.

I gave the option to anyone interested in being "commented on" by the bot to use a specific hashtag that the bot would track.
